Local Celebrities Trust Dr. Cheung’s Experience and Expertise

The Needle Master Cheung Yung

Cheung Yung’s clinic is located in a civilian area at the corner of Jordan Temple Street. However, with his superb medical skills, many celebrities, high-ranking officials and parliamentarians do not hesitate to visit this civilian area for consultation and had became his loyal fans. So it is very common to see branded or famous cars at the entrance of the clinic.

It is rumored that Dr. Cheung’s star guests include Andy Lau, Daniel Wu Neh-Tsu, Rosamund Kwan Chi-lam, and Nina Paw Hee-Ching couple. Specializing in orthopaedics and traumatology, Dr Cheung treats many celebrities who suffer muscle and bone issues. As for celebrities, the journal knows that Frederick Ma Si-hang, a former high-ranking official, suffered from long-term shoulder and neck pain during his early years as an official, and his issues kept relapsing. Introduced by Legislative Councillor Sophie LEUNG LAU Yau-fun, Frederick Ma went to Cheung Yung's clinic for intensive acupuncture, moxibustion and tuina for half a year, and his issues were finally fixed. Thereafter, rederick Ma not only sent a plaque with the words "Excellent Medical Skills" as a thank you gift, but also widely promoted the clinic to his politian friends, so many officials and legislators later became Dr. Cheung's clients.

Inherited from the Heirs of Wing Chun

The journal interviewed Physician Cheung Yung. He was about fifty years old and practiced under Sheng Neng, the heir of Foshan Wing Chun. He began to practice medicine at the age of 18, mainly focusing on bone setting and Dit Da, and then he went to Guangzhou Jinan University’s School of Traditional Chinese Medicine to studiy Chinese Medicine - Orthopedics Specialty. In the late 1980s he came to Hong Kong to practise medicine until now which has been more than 20 years. His treatment methods include acupuncture, massage, cupping and Chinese medicine conditioning, and the whole course of treatment is very comprehensive from the inside to the outside.

Cheung Yung also said that he could treat serious illnesses that even Western medicine can't do. For example, in 2007, a CLP employee fell from the fifth floor to the ground due to a work injury and was seriously injured. After 20 days in a coma, his lower body was paralyzed. The doctors diagnosed that he had vertebral necrosis and no treatment would be able to help him. But after about two years of treatment with Chinese medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion, the patient has almost fully recovered.

Earlier, the journal also discovered that Suki Chui Suk-Man, who had just become a mother, was also a client of Dr. Cheung. On the interview date, she and her husband Kenny Wee went to the clinic to seek medical treatment. The reporter heard her explaining her postpartum condition to the physician, including often feeling tired and low back pain. "I want to get pregnant again but cannot do so as my waist was in pain" It was diagnosed that the cause of Suki's low back pain was caused by the hormonal influence of the previous childbirth, which caused the ligament to relax, and her long-term incorrect sitting posture also made her waist and neck bones tilted. Both of which resulted in her frequent tiredness and low back pain.

Strengthen the Waist and Prepare for Pregnant

Doctor Cheung first asked Suki to lie down on the bed for massage to set the bone, and then use acupuncture to soothe the meridians throughout her body. A dozen of needles were placed all over Suki's head and neck. After about fifteen minutes, he then used the clinic's unique shockwave acupuncture device to massage her neck so as to soothe the meridian. The full course of treatment took about half an hour. It is heard that Suki will be able to "strengthen her waist" after receiving the same course of treatment twice a week for a period of two to three months. Thereafter she will absolutely have no problem to have a baby again.

On the same date the reporter saw Suki’s treatment, and it happened that Tommy Cheung Yu-yan, a member of the Legislative Council, also went to the clinic for treatment. The reporter found that he was waiting in line just like ordinary patients. It can be seen that Dr. Cheung absolutely treats patients equally regardless of their identity and status.
