Cervical spondylosis syndrome prevents me from reading

Cheung Yung, registered Chinese medicine practitioner · Published · Updated

Case Study:

Many children and adolescents today suffer from excessive strain on their cervical spine due to excessive gaming, leading to frequent head shaking, insomnia, lack of energy, and disinterest in everything. I often encounter such cases in my clinical practice, where patients are unable to study due to difficulty concentrating. Their parents then take them to psychiatrists and put them on Western medication. Later, they are referred to me by friends with knowledge in this area, asking me to examine and diagnose them. After diagnosis, I found that all of them had cervical spondylosis compressing their vertebral arteries, leading to insufficient blood supply to the brain, which caused the aforementioned symptoms. This condition is caused by poor blood circulation, leading to chronic neck and back pain, headaches, dizziness, insomnia, lack of energy, and low self-confidence, making them despondent all day long.

When encountering such cases, I often ask the patients' parents: "Your children have had chronic neck discomfort, leading to habitual head shaking. Given this physical condition, how can your children concentrate on their studies?" Then I would ask them why they don't take their children to see a doctor. They would reply: "We did! We even saw psychiatrists and psychologists. We never imagined it was caused by 'cervical spondylosis'." Of course, they wouldn't think of it, and even doctors wouldn't think of it. Don't underestimate these children; after treatment, their grades improve immediately, ranking among the top few. It turns out they are all gifted students.
