Six Therapies ∙ A Holistic Healing System

Advanced Therapies: Diagnosis First, Compassion Always

At SYT Wellness, led by our founder Dr. Cheung Yung, who has over 40 years of clinical experience, we uphold a crucial and responsible commitment to you: "Diagnose first, then treat." We have established a rigorous diagnostic and treatment system that integrates traditional Chinese medicine wisdom with modern medical knowledge, striving to identify the true root of your problem before treatment begins.

Our Commitment: Accurate Diagnosis, Targeted Treatment

This is our uncompromising principle. We believe that indiscriminate treatment only wastes your time and money. Therefore, we combine the four diagnostic methods of Chinese medicine — inspection, auscultation and olfaction, inquiry, and palpation — with our unique palpation technique to meticulously examine subtle changes in your body's structure. When necessary, we also refer to modern imaging reports such as X-rays and MRIs to gain a comprehensive understanding of your condition. Only after an accurate diagnosis will we propose the most suitable treatment plan for you.

Our treatment methods are not singular therapies but rather an integration of various strengths, specifically designed to address the health issues of urban dwellers in Hong Kong. The following four key features distinguish SYT Wellness from typical Chinese medicine clinics.

SYT Wellness's Four Key Treatment Features

1. Rooted in Lingnan Medicine, Tailored for Hong Kong's Climate

Our medical philosophy is based on Lingnan medicine, which particularly focuses on treating various pain conditions, dampness-related issues, and internal medical problems caused by Hong Kong's humid and hot climate, making the treatment more suitable for the local constitution.

2. Integration of Medicine and Martial Arts, Exquisite Bone Setting Techniques

We integrate the exquisite bridging hand techniques of Foshan Wing Chun into the Long's Bone Setting method. This unique "medicine and martial arts integration" technique ensures that the methods are safe, precise, and can deeply address musculoskeletal misalignment issues.

3. Unique Palpation to Identify the Root Cause of Pain

Instruments alone may not detect all problems. Our physicians use palpation to determine the location and extent of pain, check for abnormalities in bony landmarks, accurately find the source of pain, and formulate an appropriate treatment plan.

4. Strict Inheritance, Guaranteed Physician Team Expertise

All attending physicians at SYT Wellness must pass rigorous internal training and assessment, proficiently mastering diagnostic philosophy, acupuncture, bone setting, and palpation techniques, ensuring adherence to SYT Wellness's professional standards.

Professional Chinese Medicine Traumatology & Bone Setting: Conquering Injury Pain

At SYT Wellness, we integrate centuries-old wisdom of Chinese medicine with modern medical knowledge, specializing in treating various musculoskeletal injuries. Our Chinese medicine bone setting and traumatology therapy aims to directly address the root cause of pain, alleviate discomfort, and accelerate your body's self-healing capabilities.

Three Authentic Inheritances, Guaranteed Expertise

The core of our treatment is built upon the exquisite medical skills of our founder, Master Cheung Yung, with over forty years of experience. His unique techniques are a crystallization of three authentic inheritances, ensuring that the treatment has deep tradition and aligns with modern scientific principles.

1

Academic Clinical Foundation

Master Cheung Yung graduated from Guangzhou Jinan University School of Chinese Medicine, receiving formal clinical training in "Lingnan School of Chinese Medicine," establishing a solid foundation.

2

Authentic Transmission of Martial Arts Medicine (Dual Transmission of Medicine and Martial Arts)

Master Cheung studied under Foshan Wing Chun Grandmaster Sum Neng, inheriting his true lineage of "Traumatology and Bone Setting," continuing the authentic techniques passed down orally and through direct experience, combining medicine and martial arts.

3

Integration with Modern Human Anatomy

We also incorporate the essence of spinal treatment from national treasure Professor Long Ceng-Hua, combining traditional bone setting with an understanding of modern human anatomy, making the techniques more precise, scientific, and safe.

Scope of Traumatology and Bone Setting Treatment

Our traumatology and bone setting techniques are applicable to a variety of new and old injuries, and have a positive effect on treating pain.

Acute Injuries (Traumatology and Bone Injury)

Ankle and wrist sprains
Muscle and ligament strains

Acupuncture: Ancient Wisdom for Modern Healing

Acupuncture is a treasure of Chinese medicine, refined and passed down for thousands of years. It involves inserting extremely fine, single-use sterile needles into specific acupoints on the body for therapeutic purposes. At SYT Wellness, we utilize traditional acupuncture to address various modern urban ailments, from chronic pain to stress-related imbalances, helping you regain balance and well-being.

The Principle of Acupuncture: Integration of Traditional Wisdom and Modern Science

Traditional Chinese Medicine Explanation: The human body has a vital energy called "Qi," which flows through channels called "meridians." When the flow of Qi is blocked or imbalanced, it can lead to pain, illness, or emotional distress. Acupuncture stimulates specific acupoints along the meridians to clear blockages, restore the smooth flow of Qi, and guide the body back to a naturally balanced state of health.

Modern Scientific Explanation: Research indicates that acupoints are locations where nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissues are highly concentrated. Stimulating these acupoints can activate immune cells to repair local areas, prompt the brain to release endorphins (the body's natural painkillers), and influence neurotransmitter and hormone secretion, thereby helping to reduce pain, lower inflammation, and regulate bodily functions.

Scope of Acupuncture Treatment: Evidence-Based Applications

Acupuncture is a widely applicable therapy whose efficacy is broadly recognized across various conditions. Below are some of the main conditions we treat with acupuncture, supported by scientific evidence:

Chronic Pain+

Extensive evidence supports the efficacy of acupuncture for chronic pain (including lower back, neck, and shoulder pain), with lasting effects.

Headaches and Migraines+

Studies show that a course of acupuncture can reduce the frequency and intensity of chronic headaches and migraines, comparable to preventive medications.

Knee Pain and Osteoarthritis+

For patients with knee osteoarthritis, acupuncture has been shown to effectively reduce pain and improve physical function, offering a valuable alternative to conventional treatments.

Back Pain and Sciatica

Acupuncture is more effective than certain medications for sciatica and can provide significant short-term relief for chronic lower back pain.

Sports Injuries+

Acupuncture helps alleviate short-term pain, improve function, and accelerate recovery from sports injuries such as sprains, tendonitis, and muscle strains.

Fibromyalgia+

For fibromyalgia patients, acupuncture can improve pain, stiffness, and overall quality of life.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (Mouse Hand)+

Research suggests that acupuncture (especially as an adjunctive therapy) can relieve pain, improve symptoms, and functional status for carpal tunnel syndrome patients.

Insomnia and Anxiety+

Acupuncture has been shown to improve sleep quality, increase total sleep time, and reduce anxiety, particularly for insomnia caused by pain or depression.

Menstrual Pain (Primary Dysmenorrhea)+

Evidence shows that acupuncture can effectively reduce the intensity and duration of menstrual pain and its associated symptoms, offering a safe alternative to medication for many women.

Cosmetic Acupuncture+

Cosmetic acupuncture uses finer needles than regular acupuncture to stimulate facial acupoints and meridians, improving blood circulation, promoting collagen production, and achieving effects such as wrinkle reduction, skin tightening, brightening skin tone, and reducing puffiness. Compared to aesthetic treatments like injections or lasers, cosmetic acupuncture has fewer side effects and is safer. It can improve: facial and neck wrinkles, crow's feet, nasolabial folds, dark circles, facial swelling, asymmetrical face, and enlarged masseter muscles.

Your Acupuncture Treatment Experience

Your comfort and safety are our top priorities. At SYT Wellness, a typical acupuncture session includes:

Personalized Consultation

The physician will first discuss your health concerns, symptoms, and treatment goals to develop a personalized treatment plan for you.

Gentle Needle Insertion

Single-use, sterile, and extremely fine needles are used. During insertion, you may only feel a very slight pricking sensation or mild numbness, with minimal pain.

The Sensation of "De Qi"

After the needle is inserted to the correct depth, you may feel a slight aching, numbness, distention, or heaviness around the acupoint. This is a normal and ideal sensation called "De Qi" (arrival of Qi).

Relaxation and Rest

During needle retention, you will lie quietly and rest for about 20–30 minutes. Most patients find this to be a deeply relaxing process.

Electroacupuncture Treatment (if needed)

For certain pain conditions, the physician may recommend electroacupuncture – where small clips are attached to the needles to deliver gentle pulsating currents, which cause no pain and can enhance the treatment effect.

Why Choose SYT Wellness for Acupuncture?

Our electronic medical record database has accumulated over 100,000 cases, reflecting our extensive experience and trusted reputation in acupuncture and Chinese medicine.

All our physicians are registered Chinese medicine practitioners with the Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong and are proficient in various traditional Chinese medicine therapies, including acupuncture, traumatology and bone setting, spinal manipulation (bone setting), Tui Na, Chinese herbal medicine, cupping, and Moxibustion therapy. We are committed to providing you with the highest standard of care in a professional and friendly environment.

Professional Tui Na for Pain: Addressing Musculoskeletal Pain at its Root

Are you suffering from chronic neck and shoulder stiffness, or back pain? While regular massages offer temporary relaxation, "Tui Na" in Chinese medicine is a therapeutic treatment aimed at resolving pain issues from their root. At SYT Wellness, our pain-focused Tui Na is supervised by registered Chinese medicine practitioners, combining authentic muscle-straightening and bone-setting techniques with modern clinical practice to provide you with safe, precise, and effective treatment.

What is Chinese Medicine Tui Na? Tui Na is an important part of Chinese medicine, alongside acupuncture and herbal medicine. It is not just a general wellness massage, but a therapeutic method focusing on "regulating tendons, setting bones, invigorating blood, and unblocking meridians." According to TCM theory, "pain results from obstruction." Tui Na uses professional techniques such as "pushing, grasping, pressing, and kneading" on specific acupoints, meridians, and myofascia to promote the flow of Qi and blood, restoring bodily balance.

SYT Wellness Features: Coordinated Chinese Medicine Care × Foshan Bone Setting Techniques

Authentic Foshan Bone Setting Techniques

Our therapists are rigorously trained in "Foshan Bone Setting" and are particularly adept at addressing deep-seated musculoskeletal strains, joint dislocations, and soft tissue adhesions.

Administered and Supervised by Registered Chinese Medicine Practitioners

Treatment plans are diagnosed and formulated by registered Chinese medicine practitioners, and therapists perform Tui Na under the guidance of the TCM physician, ensuring precision and effectiveness.

Evidence-Based, Results-Oriented

Based on clinical research, Tui Na has been shown to have excellent therapeutic effects in treating various musculoskeletal pain conditions.

Targeting Common Urban Problems

Specifically designed to address office syndrome (neck pain, frozen shoulder), chronic lumbar muscle strain, sciatica, and more.

Scientific Evidence for Tui Na

Modern medical research is progressively confirming the efficacy of Tui Na. Scientific studies indicate that Tui Na can promote local blood circulation, help reduce inflammatory responses, and stimulate the body to secrete endorphins, achieving a natural analgesic effect. A systematic review published in 2023 analyzed data from 15 studies involving 1,390 patients, concluding that Tui Na is an effective treatment method for improving pain and physical function in chronic non-specific low back pain. For chronic neck pain, a study showed that patients experienced a significant reduction in neck pain and improved quality of life after receiving 6 Tui Na treatments over 3 weeks.

Our Tui Na Treatment Process

TCM Diagnosis

First, a registered Chinese medicine practitioner will conduct a professional diagnosis to accurately identify the root cause of your pain.

Plan Formulation

Based on your constitution and condition, the Chinese medicine practitioner will develop a personalized Tui Na treatment plan and communicate it to the Tui Na therapist.

Treatment Execution

Clean clothing will be provided for changing. The Tui Na therapist will perform targeted Tui Na treatment on the relevant areas according to the Chinese medicine practitioner's guidance.

Professional Advice

After treatment, the Chinese medicine practitioner may recommend complementary Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture, or daily care to consolidate the therapeutic effects.

Please note: Tui Na is not suitable for conditions such as skin lesions, acute sprains, or fractures.

Professional Chinese Medicine Cupping Therapy: Relieve Pain, Regulate Constitution

Cupping is a time-honored external therapy in Chinese medicine, utilizing negative pressure within cups placed on specific acupoints or painful areas of the skin to promote meridian flow and invigorate qi and blood circulation. At SYT Wellness, all our treatments are overseen by professional Chinese medicine practitioners, integrating traditional wisdom with modern clinical diagnosis to provide you with a safe, precise, and effective cupping experience.

Why Choose SYT Wellness for Cupping?

Administered by Registered Chinese Medicine Practitioners

The entire treatment process is personally performed and supervised by a government-registered Chinese medicine practitioner, who conducts a professional diagnosis before determining the most suitable cupping plan.

Diagnose First, Treat Later

We adhere to the principle of "no diagnosis, no treatment." Cupping is part of an integrated treatment plan, and the Chinese medicine practitioner will decide whether to combine it with acupuncture, bonesetting, Chinese herbal medicine, etc.

Strict Sterilization, Hygienic Safety

We use professional glass fire cupping. All tools undergo strict sterilization procedures to eliminate the risk of cross-infection.

The Wisdom of Cupping in Traditional Chinese Medicine: The main purpose of cupping is "no pain if there is flow." When the body's Qi and blood are obstructed and meridians are blocked, discomforts such as pain, soreness, distension, and numbness occur. Cupping can clear meridians and activate blood circulation, improving local blood flow; dispel wind and cold, and remove dampness; reduce swelling and relieve pain, and relax tendons and muscles.

Problems Cupping Primarily Helps Alleviate

Various pains: shoulder and neck pain, back pain, muscle strain
Early stages of common cold caused by wind-cold: dispelling wind-cold, alleviating symptoms
Excessive dampness in the body: fatigue, heavy limbs
Indigestion and gastrointestinal problems

Treatment Process and Precautions

We are committed to providing you with a safe and comfortable treatment experience. The Chinese medicine practitioner will use strictly sterilized glass fire cups on your back or specific areas. The process takes approximately 10–15 minutes. Circular marks left on the skin after cupping are normal. The color of the marks can reflect the degree of blood stasis, cold, or dampness in the body and will usually fade within a week. After treatment, it is recommended to keep warm, avoid exposure to wind and cold, and only shower several hours later.

Cupping is not suitable for the following individuals: those with bleeding disorders or who are taking anticoagulants such as blood thinners; those with skin damage or allergies; during pregnancy (especially on the abdomen and sacrum); those with severe heart disease or kidney failure; those who are extremely weak, overly hungry or full, or under the influence of alcohol. If you have any of these conditions, please inform your practitioner.

Chinese Herbal Medicine: Personalized Health Solutions Tailored to You

Chinese herbal medicine is the essence of Traditional Chinese Medicine, utilizing natural medicinal materials (mainly plants, but also some minerals and animal-derived materials) to restore the balance of yin, yang, qi, and blood in the human body. At Syut Wellness, we combine this centuries-old wisdom with modern strict requirements for purity, safety, and efficacy to formulate personalized herbal prescriptions best suited to your individual constitution.

Traditional Chinese Herbs vs. Instant Granulated Herbs

Traditional Herbal Decoctions

The most classic form of Chinese medicine. The practitioner prescribes a formula consisting of various herbs, which you can take home to decoct yourself or have us prepare for you.

Instant Concentrated Herbal Granules

High-concentration Chinese herbal granules designed for busy urban dwellers. Simply mix with hot water for quick and convenient consumption, with precise dosage and undiminished efficacy.

How Do Chinese Herbs Work?

According to TCM theory, diseases arise from imbalances in the body's Qi, blood, and organ functions. Chinese herbs utilize the "four natures and five flavors" (cold, hot, warm, cool natures, and pungent, sweet, sour, bitter, salty flavors) and meridian tropism of different medicinal materials to correct imbalances in the body. Practitioners follow the rigorous principle of "emperor, minister, assistant, and guide" in formulating prescriptions – the emperor herb being primary, the minister herb assisting, the assistant herb harmonizing, and the guide herb directing – to maximize the synergistic effect of the formula, addressing both the cause of the illness and the individual's constitution.

Scope of Chinese Herbal Treatment

Digestive system problems: Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), etc.
Skin problems: Eczema and other chronic dermatitis
Gynecological conditioning: Menstrual pain, endometriosis, etc.
Pain management: Promoting blood circulation to remove stasis, reducing inflammation and pain

Syut Wellness's Commitment: Safe, Effective, Professional

Carefully Selected High-Quality Herbs

All Chinese medicinal materials are meticulously selected by an experienced team of practitioners from reputable suppliers, ensuring superior quality and significant therapeutic effects.

Independent Third-Party Testing for Guaranteed Safety

Medicinal materials are independently sent to third-party laboratories for rigorous testing, including heavy metals, pesticide residues, and microbial tests, to ensure purity and freedom from contamination.

Professional Pharmacy, Expert Management

The Chinese herbal pharmacy is managed by qualified personnel, with every step from storage and management to dispensing being rigorous and precise.

Your Personalized Chinese Herbal Treatment Process

Professional Diagnosis by a Chinese Medicine Practitioner

A registered Chinese medicine practitioner conducts a comprehensive and detailed diagnosis using "Wang, Wen, Wen, Qie" (observation, listening, inquiry, palpation) to identify constitutional imbalances and the root cause of the illness.

Customized Personalized Prescription

Based on the diagnosis, the practitioner prescribes the most suitable personalized herbal formula for you.

Dispensing and Dosage Instructions

Pharmacy staff accurately dispense the herbs and clearly explain how, when, and what precautions to take when consuming them.

Regular Follow-ups and Adjustments

As the condition improves, the prescription needs to be adjusted accordingly. Regular follow-ups allow the practitioner to make timely adjustments to the prescription for optimal therapeutic effect.

Important Considerations for Taking Chinese Herbal Medicine: Please inform your Chinese medicine practitioner if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding; have severe liver or kidney disease; are taking other Western medications (especially blood thinners, blood pressure medications, or immunosuppressants); or have G6PD deficiency.

Topical Chinese Herbal Patches: The Wisdom of Lingnan Bonesetting ∙ The Innovation of Modern Technology

Topical Chinese herbal medicine is a traditional method in TCM for treating pain. However, many people have experienced the stuffiness, strong odor, and painful removal of traditional medicated plasters. At Syut Wellness, we combine centuries of Lingnan herbal wisdom with modern material science to create a new generation of herbal patches—a refreshing, comfortable, and highly effective modern pain relief solution.

Lingnan Herbal Heritage: Designed for Hot and Humid Climates

Our formula originates from China's Lingnan region. The Lingnan area has a hot and humid climate, similar to Hong Kong, which is why practitioners throughout history have excelled at using herbs with the following characteristics:

Dispelling Wind and Dampness: Addresses soreness, numbness, and pain that occurs with heavy dampness and weather changes.
Activating Blood and Resolving Stasis: Improves circulation of Qi and blood, alleviating sharp pain and bruising caused by trauma or strain.
Warming Meridians and Unblocking Collaterals: Warms meridians, dispels cold, and relieves pain, particularly effective for alleviating joint stiffness and muscle tension.

The Culmination of Forty Years of Clinical Experience: Our founder, Dr. Cheung Yung, has been using Lingnan herbs to help patients manage pain for over forty years. He has always hoped to transform his clinical expertise into a product that is both highly effective and comfortably convenient, making it an essential health item for every home and office. This dedication is the origin of our flagship product series.

Advantages of Hydrogel Technology

Our medicated patches utilize advanced Hydrogel material, setting a new standard for topical physiotherapy:

Highly Permeable, Directly to the Pain Point

Hydrogel has high water content, creating an optimal absorption environment for the skin, helping herbal essences penetrate more effectively and deeply into the target area.

Hypoallergenic and Skin-Friendly, Say Goodbye to Sensitivity

The material is gentle and highly breathable, significantly reducing the risk of skin allergies, redness, and itching, suitable for prolonged use.

Pain-Free Removal, No Residue

The patches are easily removed without pulling skin or hair, and they don't leave behind sticky residue that is difficult to clean.

Fresh and Odorless, Conveniently Discreet

The scent is fresh and subtle, and the patch feels dry and comfortable after application, easily hidden under clothing without affecting daily life or appearance.

Important Notice: Our topical herbal product series is designed as health and wellness products to help you alleviate daily acute and chronic pain discomfort. They are not intended as medications to treat, cure, or prevent any diseases, but rather as a professional, effective range of health products aimed at assisting you in achieving a more comfortable and flexible lifestyle.

Zhang Yong, the founder of Shangyitang and a registered Chinese medicine practitioner, is primarily based on Lingnan medical techniques. His acupuncture methods are very sophisticated. He not only uses scientifically sound methods such as needle retention, rapid needle insertion, and electroacupuncture to stimulate the brain's self-repairing ability, but also uses the "burning mountain fire, penetrating the sky coolness" technique in conjunction with needle insertion to achieve the effect of "needle reaching the qi, needling to tonify and reduce" .

Lingnan medicine, with its regional characteristics, is well-suited for treating epidemics and common urban pains prevalent in the hot and humid climate of Guangdong. Lingnan orthopedics, in particular, has its unique techniques, primarily passed down through apprenticeship, emphasizing "the transmission of methods, not books," relying entirely on individual skill and clinical practice. Besides acupuncture, bone setting and spinal manipulation, and treatment of sprains and bruises, Dr. Zhang Yong advocates prevention rather than treatment, focusing on preventing disease before it manifests. Therefore, he is deeply engrossed in studying Chinese herbal formulas, combining internal and external herbal remedies, exercise, and herbal soups—a complete system of superior medical treatment based on syndrome differentiation and treatment.

He subscribed to the Confucian value of "If one cannot be a good prime minister, one should be a good doctor," which has profoundly influenced the spirit of traditional Chinese medicine. Shangyitang has always prioritized benevolence and skillful medical practice, caring for patients; thus winning the trust and support of the general public and earning a stellar reputation.
