Pelvic misalignment and leg length discrepancy: Traditional Chinese medicine bone setting and repositioning to improve poor posture and postpartum lower back pain | Shangyitang

Common causes of pelvic misalignment

This condition is more common in young women. A common cause is that when a patient falls, landing on only one hip, "misaligns" the pelvis. Additionally, hormonal imbalances during pregnancy and postpartum can cause relaxation of the sacroiliac joint muscles in the pelvis. When subjected to impacts, twisting, pulling, or incorrect posture while holding a child, the pelvis can become misaligned. Furthermore, poor posture (e.g., crossing legs), frequently wearing high heels, or incorrect posture during exercise (e.g., stretching or meditation in yoga) can all easily lead to pelvic misalignment.

Clinical symptoms of pelvic misalignment

The patient walks with a limp and needs to lift one hip while walking. In addition, the patient usually points to one side of the pelvis (the upper outer part of the hip) to indicate that the pain is so severe that they cannot sleep.

Clinical examination revealed muscle spasms and tenderness in the affected area of the buttocks. The sacroiliac joints on both sides of the pelvis were uneven and asymmetrical, with the affected area appearing protruding. The legs were also of different lengths and asymmetrical, causing tightness in the lower back muscles and limited lower limb movement. Bending over, turning, and lying supine exacerbated the pain. If left untreated, this condition can lead to headaches, neck and back pain, and limping.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Bone Setting and Acupuncture Treatment Plan

1. Acupuncture treatment: anti-inflammatory and analgesic.

Acupuncture points can effectively relieve muscle spasms and inflammation in the lower back and hips, and alleviate pain.

2. Manual therapy: Bone setting, spinal manipulation, and repositioning

Using professional bone-setting and spinal manipulation techniques, misaligned or protruding pelvic bones are repositioned, and the skeletal structure is adjusted.

3. Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment: Oral administration to soothe the liver and strengthen the spleen.

Combined with oral Chinese medicine (such as Shugan Jianpi Wan), it can regulate the body's constitution and promote the repair of the affected area.

Daily suggestions for improving pelvic tilt

Friendly reminder: Get plenty of rest, stop strenuous exercise, and improve poor posture. Apply heat to the affected area frequently and do more "strengthening exercises" to enhance the muscles of the buttocks and spine to maintain normal and stable lumbar disc function.
